Frequently Asked Questions

What issues can counselling and psychotherapy help with?

Counselling and psychotherapy can support a wide range of emotional and psychological issues including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, low self-esteem, trauma, stress, life transitions, and more. If you're unsure whether therapy is right for your specific concerns, feel free to reach out for a brief consultation.

How long is each session and how often do we meet?

Appointments last 50 minutes and are held weekly or fortnightly. Regular appointments provide continuity and build a strong therapeutic relationship, which is essential for effective therapy.  We will regularly review if further appointments are needed.

A Single Session Therapy appointment lasts for 2 hours.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an initial consultation by emailing me at linzi@truecounselling.co.uk or by sending a text request to 07786 656241.  Please provide your name, and I aim to respond within 24–48 hours during working days.

What if I need to cancel an appointment?

What’s the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

While both aim to improve mental well-being, counselling often focuses on specific issues and tends to be shorter-term. Psychotherapy is typically a deeper, longer-term process that explores patterns, behaviours, and root causes. The approach depends on your needs, and we can discuss this during the initial consultation.

Is what I say in therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. What you share stays between us, with a few legal exceptions—such as if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others. These exceptions will be clearly explained in our first session.

What are your fees?

£50.00 per 50 minutes appointment and £120.00 for a Single Session Therapy appointment

How many appointments will I need?

The number of appointments vary from person to person and depends on your individual needs, goals, and the nature of the concerns you’re bringing to counselling. Some people find clarity in just a few appointments, while others benefit from longer-term support. During our initial appointments, we’ll work together to get a sense of what might be most helpful for you, and we can regularly review progress as we go.

Cancellations require 24's notice. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be charged at the full rate. This policy helps maintain consistency and ensures availability for all clients.
