Frequently Asked Questions

What issues can counselling and psychotherapy help with?

Counselling and psychotherapy can support a wide range of emotional and psychological issues including anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, low self-esteem, trauma, stress, life transitions, and more. If you're unsure whether therapy is right for your specific concerns, feel free to reach out for a brief consultation.

How long is each session and how often do we meet?

Sessions last 50 minutes and are held weekly or fortnightly. Regular sessions provide continuity and build a strong therapeutic relationship, which is essential for effective therapy.

What’s the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

While both aim to improve mental well-being, counselling often focuses on specific issues and tends to be shorter-term. Psychotherapy is typically a deeper, longer-term process that explores patterns, behaviours, and root causes. The approach depends on your needs, and we can discuss this during the initial session.

Is what I say in therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. What you share stays between us, with a few legal exceptions—such as if there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or others. These exceptions will be clearly explained in our first session.

How do I book a session?

You can book an initial consultation via my contact form or by emailing me at linzi@truecounselling.co.uk.  Please provide your name, email and phone number in any emails. calendar link and I aim to respond within 24–48 hours during working days.

What if I need to cancel a session?

Cancellations require 24's notice. Late cancellations or missed sessions may be charged at the full rate. This policy helps maintain consistency and ensures availability for all clients.

What are your fees?

£50.00 per session.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies from person to person and depends on your individual needs, goals, and the nature of the concerns you’re bringing to counselling. Some people find clarity in just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. During our initial sessions, we’ll work together to get a sense of what might be most helpful for you, and we can regularly review progress as we go.
